- Wood Decks – The biggest advantage of wood decking is the cost. It is far less expensive than composite decking. Wood decks come in a range of prices depending on what wood is used. Another benefit of wood decking is that it looks, feels, and even smells like real wood. The maintenance of wood decks is far more intensive than composite decks. Wood decks require regular sanding, staining, and painting.
